An immersive experience is an illusory environment that completely surrounds you such that you feel that you are inside it and part of it.
Within Picabo, the guests will get a chance to fully experience the reflected light on the waters surface without the outside distractions. Instead of looking down to the river to experience these reflections, it will be as if they’re in the water and looking up to the reflected light.
“Picabo” translates to “shining waters” or “silver water”.
Picabo is a floating installation that aims to provide an immersive reflectory experience through the use of sunlight reflections on the waters surface.
Per project objective, the site will be an outdoor sculpture garden and exhibition space by or on the Hudson River.
The site of the installation could be anywhere from land to water within Pier 62. After thorougly examining the area, I found that the marked area was the furthest from the city noises and had an entry gate available.
The focus of the installment is light, and explores the reflection of light as a natural phenmomena.
Light reflects in a predictable manner, in accordance with the law of reflection and Picabo harnesses these reflection patterns to create an experience like none other.
